The Kura provides Transport Assistance by way of Travel Allowance to eligible students based on the accuracy of student records and the information as notified by a parent/guardian

The Ministry of Education undertakes an annual survey to determine the eligibility of each student based on the kuras records and whether you meet their eligibility criteria. It is imperative in order to determine your child/childs eligibility that you notify us in writing at info@taiatea.school.nz of any changes to your Residential Address which can ascertain becoming eligible, currently eligible or not eligible status when making an application each term.

The school supports transport assistance in the form of school buses where possible with designated routes. However sometimes eligible students live a considerable distance from the school and/or a school bus services is not available, in which case a Travel Allowance may be paid to the primary parent/caregiver/guardian to assist with the cost of transporting students from their home to the school and/or school bus route.

The travel allowance is paid in arrears and commencing from 2025 will be paid on a term by term basis, therefore you will need to apply for each term separately. To apply for a travel allowance, you must complete the application form and submit prior to the closing application deadline. The closing date for applications will be notified here and on the application form.

Applications must be received by the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted. All applications must be completed in full or your application will not be approved.

If details provided on your application form differ from those currently held on the school record system, eg residential address, your application will not be approved.

Any application received and eligible you will automatically agree that outstanding fees (stationery, uniform, activity fees, sports fees etc) will be deducted in full from payment of the travel allowance.

The school accepts no responsibility for any incorrect information provided on the application form or held on school records that has not been formerly notified by the parent/guardian that may see your application not approved

The Board of Trustees reserves the right to determine eligible students.
